GOLETA
The early days of Goleta were filled with fields of lemon, walnut, and avocado orchards, and has since transformed into a prosperous, high-tech and scholastic community. The University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) and several technology-based companies are rooted in Goleta, further enriching a community infused with wondrous natural features including the Ellwood Mesa. This open space is comprised of approximately 137 acres of trails and beach access along with the Goleta Butterfly Grove, winter home to the Monarch Butterfly. Goleta Beach, with its roughly 1,500 foot-long pier engages boaters, sightseers and fishing enthusiasts alike. Named after the Spanish word for schooner, this area is also fondly referred to as The Good Land.
